Accepting your natural hair
As teenagers we often look up to a specific person that we love or would like to be like when we grow up. Personally I love Rihanna, her style, her music, the way she just does not give a DAMN! However i dont think id necessarily want to be like her. I love music but i wouldn't want a profession in it and i love Fashion but i would think twice before I left the house in anything Rhiannawears.
But for natural haired teenagers we have different role models. We have Naptural85,Joulzey,Mahogany Curls, Taren Guy and of course my Favorite TheChicNatural! these are all natural hair gurus that share their beauty and hair secrets on YouTube.
Watching most of these ladies I'd often try to recreate their styles or recipes and put in my hair but that often lead me down a road of matted , tangled and dry hair because maybe i want doing it right, but then i started to learn about different textures and although I'm still not 100% sure as to what my texture is I'm thinking its between 4b/c hair! yeah I'm a kinky girl! (that sounds a lil wrong, LOL). The point is its all about your style and what works for you.
we see all these ladies with beautiful hair and get jealous, of course we do i get super jealous of Naptural85's hair all the time! but my hair texture is far off although her recipes are amazing doesn't mean i can rock some of our style. It's all about ACCEPTANCE ladies! Its about accepting that maybe our hair cant bend or twist like theirs but I'll rock my own style anyway.
I look up to all these women because of their amazing style and their journey! So in a way their like SuperGurus of natural hair! I'm just starting out on my hair journey and im excited to see where it brings me! knowing that i will accept it in any form!

Exams And Bananas
Exams are inevitable, they come once or twice a year and you swear they want to wreck your life, worst when your going on your first natural hair journey, so yeah time to put down Pintrest and take up algebra! ugh! who wants that especially when you can feel summer creeping in on you. Hmmh.... I can almost feel it no more books but just gotta get through the next six weeks and im through!! oh June come quickly!
Anyway i was going through some transitioning stress and realized my hair was shedding more than lately and it could be either exams stress or exams stress so you see exams aren't that good for your health either. So you guys might not know but as conditioner i currently use Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner. To be honest , I'm not a fan of the smell, its too much but its such a good co-wash! Seriously guys its the best detangler and co-wash I've ever used! (not that ive used that much to begin with LOL ). Also if your a pintrest junkey like me you would have seen some naturals talking about the magical wonders of bananas , honey and avocados and how they absolutely loving putting them in their hair, so being the little scientist I am, I decide to try it.
THE RESULTS
um it was okay? I mixed aloe-vera juice with two ripe bananas and an egg and because i didn't wanna have any chucks to deal with i decided you know what I'm gonna strain it and boy did that take forever and also i only got A LITTLE BIT! not alot so i used the puree let it sit for 40 mins ( dont do as long as me i forgot about it ) and washed it out it wasn't such a bad experience but i did end up with pieces of bananas stuck in my hair In the words of my friend malik " Not cute booboo" . yeah so lesson from all this is buy the baby bananas if you wanna try this recipe! however i did end up with soft hair, so that's a plus , this was my first time so ill update you on it the future.
So whats the lesson this week? Exams are a mother but they are a neccesary evil for reaching your goals in life study hard, concentrate and it'll pay off in the end! oh and BUY BABY FOOD BANANAS!! for soft manageable hair!
see you soon!
Ashleigh
